Two River Theater
Comprehensive signage brings to life a theater’s vibrant and unconventional identity.
Challenge
Two River Theater is a critically-acclaimed performance space and content generator for the performing arts located in coastal New Jersey, Bringing a fresh eye to American and world classics, the theatre’s name comes from its location between the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers. In 2019, Two River was both rebranding and constructing a new three-story Center for Education.
While under a budget constraint like many nonprofits, the theatre needed a wayfinding solution for the new space that synergized with its brand while also meeting code requirements.
Approach
LVCK designed and imbued the non-code-required signage with the energy of the theater’s identity while keeping the code-required signs discreet. Supergraphics as backdrops to the building directory greet people as they exit the elevators, and wayfinding messages create movement down long hallways, while distinctive colors signify separate floors.
The success of the building signage led Two River to engage LVCK for subsequent donor and theater signage, and digital signage solutions. The wayfinding present in both the theater and educational center brings the theater’s vibrancy, unconventionality, and ability to delight to life.
