Shaw Center for The Arts

Art

Wayfinding that connects performance spaces, a museum, and university classrooms.

The Shaw Center for the Arts is a 125,000 square foot performing art venue, fine arts museum, and education center located in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The new building connected the LSU Museum of Art, the existing "Auto Hotel", and created new performance spaces.

The wayfinding challenge included directing visitors and students to the relevant destination from the central Shaw Center lobby, which connected all the elements: the museum, performance spaces, and classrooms/studios. Chris King was the lead designer for Gallagher & Associates, working closely with the architects, Schwartz Silver.

Design: Christopher King while at Gallagher Associates.
